Cooperative Nurse Honored for Life-Saving Actions at Camden Catholic High School
Cooperative nurse Kelly McMullin was honored October 5, 2026, for performing life-saving actions at Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill Township.
McMullin, who is assigned to Camden Catholic High School since as part of The Cooperative’s Non-Public School Nurse Program, was summoned to the school’s cafeteria on May 6, 2026, where a cafeteria worker was experiencing a medical emergency.
McMullin initiated rapid response protocols, performed a prompt assessment and recognition, an immediate activation of the emergency response system and maintained a calm demeanor during a cardiac emergency while awaiting EMS and paramedics to transfer to the cafeteria worker to a nearby hospital.
The school cafeteria worker, Christopher Fine, was released two days after his hospitalization, and credits McMullin’s actions with saving his life.
School administrators, faculty, staff, the entire student body and Christopher Fine celebrated McMullin at Camden Catholic High School on Monday, October 5, 2026, following the fall all-school Mass in the school’s auditorium. McMullin was presented with ceremonial proclamations and resolutions from the offices of United States Senator Andy Kim, United States Congressman Donald Norcross, New Jersey’s Sixth Legislative District and the Camden County Board of Commissioners. As a show of gratitude, Fine presented McMullin with a bouquet of flowers.
McMullin, who’s been assigned to Camden Catholic High School since fall 2024, is also an alumna of the school.
The Cooperative’s Non-Public School Nurse Program, established in 2011, is designed to provide nursing services for students in non-public schools and currently provides nursing services to 12 schools in Southern New Jersey. Learn more here.
