Non-Public School Nurse Program
The Cooperative’s Non-Public School Nurse Program, established in 2011, is designed to provide nursing services for students in non-public schools and currently provides nursing services to 12 schools in Southern New Jersey.
Our nurses provide care for children with illness and injuries, as well as maintenance of chronic conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, severe life-threatening allergies, and epilepsy. Our nurses administer medications needed during school hours. The nurses perform screenings for height, weight, and blood pressure, scoliosis screenings, and vision and hearing screenings. Referrals are made for students with abnormal findings. Our nurses monitor state-mandated immunizations, tuberculosis screenings, and physical examination records, record statistics, and report directly to the state of New Jersey.
Our nurses track communicable diseases and report to the New Jersey Department of Health, and communicate with school administrators, school employees, and parents on a routine basis. The nurses also provide annual mandatory education for school faculty.
