Clinical & Professional Education

The Cooperative provides both established and customized clinical and professional education for multidisciplinary professionals and aspiring professionals in South Jersey.

Training and education opportunities are available for practicing professionals, early career professionals including medical and nurse residents and students in social work, nursing and medical school programs and aspiring professionals in maternal-child health.

Supports the implementation of practice-wide protocol to discuss tobacco use with patients, improve motivational interviewing and communication related to tobacco use and known
health risks.

 

Target Audience: Healthcare professionals and clinicians

Breathe Strong Camden County 
45 Minutes, Virtual and In Person 

Overview of the CDC EXHALE model, review strategies that can impact asthma severity including tobacco use, assessment of the home environment, linkages to health care, asthma self-management education.

 

Target Audience: Clinical and multidisciplinary professionals serving children ages 5-18 and their families

 

Mom’s Quit Connection for Families: Provider Orientation

45 Minutes, Virtual and In Person 
Overview of the program, including referral processes and available services for expecting parents and parents of young children who use tobacco products, including vaping. Participating organizations will receive personalized referral forms for the program.

Target Audience: Healthcare providers, professionals who serve expecting parents and parents of young children

 

Perinatal Addictions Prevention Project
Virtual and In Person (Flexible Timeframe)

Custom training for clinical and medical professionals about perinatal substance use including maternal and infant health risks, administration of the Perinatal Risk Assessment and 4Ps Plus© behavioral health screening tool and resources for patients with current or past substance use disorder.

Target Audience: Perinatal healthcare professionals

Perinatal Screening and Follow Up 

1.0 Contact Hour for Nurses, 1 Generalist CE Credit Through ASWB ACE

1 Hour, Virtual
Overview of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Screening tool and the benefits of screening for mental disorders during the perinatal period, including review of Perinatal Mood Disorders, case study and Q&A.

Target Audience: Healthcare providers, nurses, physicians, social workers, health educators and case managers

QPR (Question. Persuade. Refer.)

90 Minutes, Virtual and In Person
Suicide prevention training for youth or adults. Participants will learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, how to offer hope to someone in crisis and how to get help and save a life.

 

Target Audience: All professionals and community members

 

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) 

30 Minutes, Virtual and In Person
This 30-minute training provides healthcare professionals with essential knowledge on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), including current research, risk factors and evidence-based prevention strategies. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the leading theories behind SIDS, the importance of safe sleep practices and how to effectively communicate risk-reduction guidelines to caregivers. Designed for busy medical staff, this session delivers concise, actionable insights to enhance patient education and support safer infant care.​

 

Stress First Aid

1 Hour or 4 Hour, Virtual or In Person
Evidence-based model of supportive and practical actions to improve recovery from stress and recognize the impacts of stress in self and others. Designed to support professionals in healthcare and high-risk professions, Stress First Aid provides a system-wide approach to proactively respond to stress at the individual, unit and organizational levels.

Target Audience: Multidisciplinary professionals in healthcare and high stress occupations

Lost Hopes and Dreams: NJ Statewide Perinatal Bereavement Program

7.0 Contact Hours for Nurses and Social Work CE Credits through ASWB ACE
Full Day, In Person

Training on best practices in supporting families who experience perinatal loss, including lived experience panel.

 

Target Audience: Perinatal healthcare professionals

SCREENINGS AND FACILITATED DISCUSSIONS


Host a documentary screening in person at your preferred location for an audience of your choosing. The Cooperative will support the planning and coordination of subsequent panel discussion as part of the screening to enrich the viewer experience.

 

Before a Breath
Based on groundbreaking reporting from ProPublica, this film weaves together the stories of three mothers who lost their children to stillbirth. (Note: This film is available on Vimeo and YouTube)

 

Everybody’s Work: Healing What Hurts Us All

From Director Chad Tingle, this film follows fearless nurse leaders who push to diversify the healthcare workforce to improve patient outcomes and dismantle systemic racism from within.
